[A new kind of Boston Marathon.]( As Boston.com reports, Harley Davis, an [avid traveler from Quebec]( was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkinâs lymphoma in 2018. After six rounds of chemotherapy, the 43-year-old went into recovery in November 2023. Davis and his best friend, Chris Rogers, decided to celebrate with a visit to Hawaii, where Rogers pushed his recuperating friend to keep walking around as they explored. The more Davis walked, the stronger he felt. When Davis went into full remission in December, they began an end-of-year step competition inspired by their trip. While Davis was averaging over 17,000 steps a day, he still was behind. So, he took a slightly impulsive drive down to Boston â his first time in the city â to get some extra steps in.  He started at midnight on Dec. 30, fueling up along the way with all the local essentials, including a sandwich from Mike and Pattyâs and street-cart sausages. He explored the Esplanade, navigated the North End and climbed Bunker Hill. All together, he took 60,000 steps, walked 28.6 miles and won this friendly competition. Check out Boston.com's full story and take a look at Davisâ route [here](. Stay positive, Katie Cole

It's a task that's helped me rediscover a few songs I've heard before, but found myself incorporating into my daily listening." Solon Kelleher, WBUR Arts Reporting Fellow  😎 Forward to a friend.
