I'm sweating already thinking about another 90+ degree day that feels like 100. Here's some local news that's best read in front of your fan or air conditioner: - Anyone older than 4 who walks into a Massachusetts public school will be [required to wear a face mask]( from now until at least Oct. 1. As of now, the plan after that date is that vaccinated individuals can take off their masks if their school can show at least 80% of students and staff have gotten their shots. More on this below. - The Archdiocese of Boston yesterday reversed its previous position and announced it would require masks in its 69 schools to stay in line with the state's order. - Starting today in Newton, you'll have to mask up in any public indoor space. City employees will also wear a mask if their work takes them onto private property or someone's home. This list of towns and cities with their own indoor mask mandate keeps changing every day so my advice is to get back into the habit of carrying one with you wherever you go. - Congressman Seth Moulton has been under fire since his unannounced trip to Afghanistan with a Republican congressman. Among the frustrated: the White House, the Pentagon and House speaker Nancy Pelosi. Still, Moulton said he's glad he went, and former White House advisor David Gergen [told Radio Boston]( he thinks what Moulton learned on the visit solidified that the withdrawal deadline should be extended in order to safely evacuate all Americans and their allies. - 2025: That's the year that Sen. Ed Markey says construction on two new bridges over the Cape Cod canal should begin by. Money to replace the Bourne and Sagamore bridges is included in the trillion-dollar infrastructure bill, which the Senate has approved and the House is still working through. - If you're planning to be around the Boston Garden today, you'll likely find yourself in a sea of graduates in gowns. More than 7,500 UMass Boston students will be taking part in a graduation ceremony there today. There will be two ceremonies throughout the day, with time for the Garden to be sanitized in between. - Attention music lovers: Lowell's music and art festival, which was scheduled for this October, has officially been postponed until April 2022. If you already bought your tickets, don't worry. Organizers say they'll be honored for next year. P.S.– WBUR's Morning Edition is looking to speak with local people born in 2001 for a 9/11-related roundtable about how they think the attacks have impacted their lives. Do you have a 20-year-old in your life who would be willing to take part in this over Zoom?
