October 5, 2020
Good Morning Boston,
ð§ï¸ A chance of showers, mainly before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 64.
I can't stop thinking this morning about how the report on President Trump's taxes only came out last Sunday evening. Tuesday was the first presidential debate. By the end of the week, Trump and many in his inner circle were testing positive for the coronavirus. By Friday night, he was brought to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to be treated. Last week was a doozy. Here's hoping that this Monday brings with it, at the very least, a change in pace and good health. Now, on to the news you need to know:
- Low risk cities and towns are allowed to move into the [next reopening phase today]( if their coronavirus case numbers meet the state's requirements, that is. The big changes for those that made the cut include having indoor performance venues reopen and operate at half capacity (up to 250 people) and opening retail fitting rooms. Nearly 30 communities – including Boston, Framingham and Worcester – are not allowed to enter this phase due to their case numbers.
- The showdown between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs is expected to be [back on tonight]( at 7:05 p.m. The Pats game was originally postponed after quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for the coronavirus (and this NFL game [wasn't the only one rescheduled]( this weekend because of positive cases). No other Patriots players tested positive.
- Also tonight: The debate between Sen. Ed Markey and his Republican challenger Kevin O'Connor. O'Connor has challenged the incumbent to seven debates, but Markey said tonight's will be the one and only.
- Falmouth High School is back to entirely online learning after some students attended a party this weekend in Woods Hole, where masks weren't worn and distancing wasn't followed.
P.S.– Today is the first day of the virtual Boston Book Festival. Throughout the month of October, there will be virtual author interviews, panel discussions and readings. WBUR is a media sponsor of the event and many of our reporters and hosts are moderating. You can check out that full list [here](.

[Allergies, Colds, Flu And COVID-19: How To Best Prep For Fall's 'Sick Season'](
The flu routinely kills between 12,000 and 61,000 people in the U.S. each year, and COVID-19 has already killed more than 200,000, just since February. Those big combined numbers of deaths can be scary, especially if you've skipped or postponed your usual health routines and check-ins with a doctor this year. Now's the time to get back in gear.
