Good Morning Boston,
ð§ï¸ A [chance of showers]( with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 84.
You'll definitely want to skip the outdoor dining tonight, and sneak those afternoon strolls in a little earlier today. Tropical Storm Isaias is coming. Here's what you need to know:
- The National Weather Service has issued a [Tropical Storm Warning]( for all of Massachusetts, as the storm makes its way up the east coast. Make sure to put down those patio umbrellas or bring inside light-weight porch chairs: There's a potential for wind gusts up to 57 miles per hour later today and tonight. Western Massachusetts is expected to see the heaviest rainfall at up to six inches.
And in local pandemic news:
- The Baker administration is holding nursing homes that did not respond adequately to internal coronavirus outbreaks accountable. As of yesterday, MassHealth [cut ties]( three facilities in Lowell, Worcester and Wareham.
- The state's second largest teachers' union is [calling]( remote-only lessons to continue for at least the first few weeks of the new school year. This comes [one week after]( largest, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, called for continued remote-learning this fall, as well.
- The COVID-19 pandemic could swipe roughly $200 billion from state coffers by June of next year. To dig into this, [NPR asked member station reporters]( to offer up synopses of what's happening in nearly every state, including Massachusetts.
- The main takeaway for Mass.: [We're in a bit of trouble.]( Gov. Charlie Baker and the Democrat-led Legislature have plans to "continue state spending through a three-month interim budget, with no sign that a full-year spending plan is feasible."
P.S.– I'm just going to listen to [John Legend's Tiny Desk concert]( on repeat today. If you haven't listened yet, you should do the same.
