July 30, 2020
Good morning, Boston
â
[Hot again]( clouds and sun. May shower or storm late in the day. Highs around 85-90.
I'm back from vacation, refreshed and ready to talk through the news of the day. (Though admittedly, last night I [felt a little like Thomas Jefferson](. While the R&R was much-needed, I missed you all and am happy to be back. Let's get rolling:
First things first:
- WBUR will air live coverage of the funeral service for Congressman John Lewis today at 10:30 a.m. The service will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. Our coverage will be hosted by NPR's Rachel Martin and Tonya Mosley, with guests. [Here are ways to listen](. You can also [watch a livestream of the funeral]( on wbur.org.
And here are some other highlights you should know today:
- Looks like the state House and Senate will be in summer school, government edition. House leadership yesterday [put forward an order]( would allow lawmakers to continue meeting in formal sessions past Friday's deadline. They said they want to be responsive to the continued threats posed by COVID-19.
- Cape Cod is a summer safe haven more many, but it certainly isn't immune from the pandemic. The number of positive COVID-19 cases [linked to a house party]( in Chatham earlier this month has climbed to 13, and eight Falmouth lifeguards tested positive for the coronavirus last week after attending a party the week before.
- Are you confused about to vote in the 2020 election? You're not alone. More than half of voters under the age of 35 say they don't have the resources or knowledge they need to vote by mail in November, according to a [new poll](.
P.S.– The above story brings me to this question for you: What questions do you have about voting and the upcoming 2020 elections, either locally or nationally? What information would you like on voting, whether in-person or via mail? What candidates, issues or ballot questions would you like more resources on? We're working on some cool projects for September and want to make sure we cover everything you want and need. Reply to this email to share your questions and thoughts.
