Dear Cog reader,
It was a sobering week, to say the least. The intensifying spread of coronavirus has touched virtually every inch of American life. Losses in the stock market reverberated across the globe. Schools shuttered. Workers ordered to stay home. Campaign events going online. And "social distancing" becomes common parlance.
Our work tells the story. All but one Cog essay this week is a direct reaction to some aspect of the global pandemic. We have [criticism]( of the Trump administration's [crisis management](. We have pieces to help you cope with [creeping anxiety]( and [being cooped up]( at home. We have [an essay]( from a member of the Mass. congressional delegation on the need to prioritize our most vulnerable residents. And [much]( [much]( [more](.
Cloe mentioned this in the midweek newsletter, but I think it bears repeating: We’re eager to be as useful to our audience as we can be during this time -- and we will continue to seek out the stories and essays that put the pandemic in context, help readers think about our world differently or offer suggestions about the way forward. If you have a particular interest you’d like to see covered -- or a story to tell -- please email us. We want to hear from you.
