Columbia Gas is working with local police and fire to assist more than 100 customers. Important to know: the line affected this morning was replaced last year. The leak comes a year after Lawrence was rocked by [a series of natural gas explosions]( and fires, and the same week as a report by the National Transportation Safety Report listed “weak engineering management” and failure to use adequate protections as the ultimate cause of that deadly day.
