But we can take that concept even further, and add excitement to the wider image. The secret is using StudioRack and inserting the Aphex Vintage Exciter plugin to process only the sides. This adds the Exciter’s legendary clarity and transparency in a more subtle, controllable way than processing the entire master. The result is a bright, sparkling sound, without any of the harshness that was sometimes a drawback of the original hardware. Here is how we'll set this up: 1. Create a Parallel Split in StudioRack. 2. Set one split’s input field to Mid instead of Stereo, and the other Split’s input field to Sides. 3. Insert the Aphex Vintage Exciter in the Sides path. 4.
