The markets are closed today (Monday, January 2, 2023). But they open again tomorrow. And stocks have had a long weekend to wind up. We’re prepared for an explosive day. This is our scan: - The price is up on the day by at least 20%. - If the price already managed to spike 20%, it’s got more juice in it. - The price is below $5. - Low-priced stocks spike higher. If it’s only $3, there isn’t much room to go except up. - The volume is at least 1 million shares. - The volume shows how many shares are traded, which translates to liquidity. We need liquidity to trade it. If no one wants to buy the shares we’re trying to sell, we get stuck. And that’s not good no matter how you slice it. - The float is less than 50 million shares. - The float shows how many shares are outstanding. That translates to supply. A low supply will spike the price higher when demand increases. - If you’ve got software like [StocksToTrade]( you can add news to the scan. If not, you’ll have to do an extra step and search for the tickers that released news in the last 24 hours. - Bullish news will spike demand, and since these stocks/companies are so small, they don’t get bullish news very often.
