New Yorkâs new issue celebrates the incoming delights of the season ahead: On one side, we have our Fall Preview cover featuring the cast of HBOâs Succession, while on the other, iconic model Naomi Campbell stars in the Cutâs Fall Fashion issue. For our Fall Preview cover story, writer [Hunter Harris traveled to Tuscany to trail TVâs favorite family of weirdo-ambitious billionaires](for two weeks as they filmed the final episodes of the long-delayed third season. As the showâs cast and crew worked to create an alternate world unaffected by the global pandemic, she documents how the actors get into their characters and the intricate mechanics of creating the Roysâ fights, foibles, and âRed Tableâworthy messes.â When approaching the cover image, âthe idea was to do Succession gone wild,â says New York photography director Jody Quon, who commissioned photographers Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari to shoot the cast while in Italy. Cattelan and Ferrari wanted to capture the Roys as if they had just had a blowout fight: âWe wanted readers to come upon this cover and wonder what had happened.â Other highlights from Fall Preview include Nicholas Quah talking to Seth Rogen about his foray into podcasting; Meaghan Garvey on understanding the mysteries of H.E.R.; and Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeldâs detailed guide to the best places to eat this fall. In the Cutâs Fall Fashion cover story, [Michaela angela Davis talks to Naomi Campbell about paving the way]( for a new generation of Black models and the fashion industryâs recent reckoning with its racist past. Elsewhere within the issue, and online later this week, thereâs a visual anthology of nine Black models that changed fashion, an investigation into the frenzy for curves that replicate â and distort â Black beauty ideals, and a report on how designer Peter Do and his friends borrowed and scraped to create a label. This marks Lindsay Peoples Wagnerâs first print fashion issue as the Cutâs editor-in-chief, and in her [Editorâs Letter](, she writes of her hopes that it will resonate with those who never fit into the Establishmentâs narrow idea of whatâs worthy, and that it will be the beginning of a bigger, more inclusive conversation.
