Massachusetts voters weigh in on high-profile congressional primaries; Spain grapples with rising coronavirus case counts. Tonight's Sentences was written by Cameron Peters. TOP NEWS A dynasty hangs in the balance as Massachusetts voters go to the polls Matthew J. Lee/The Boston Globe via Getty Images - On Tuesday, Massachusetts voters will decide the fate of one of America’s most durable political dynasties. Rep. Joe Kennedy III is challenging incumbent Sen. Ed Markey for his seat, and it’s far from being a sure thing for Kennedy — several recent polls gave Markey the edge. [[Vox / Li Zhou](] - At 74, Markey has served in Congress — first in the House and more recently in the Senate — since before Kennedy, 39, was born. Both candidates are running as progressives, and the RealClearPolitics polling average shows Markey with an 11-point lead. [[NPR / Elena Moore](] - That’s quite the turnabout from earlier in the race, when polls showed Kennedy with a potential double-digit lead over Markey. And if Kennedy loses on Tuesday, it’ll be historic — a member of his family has never lost a statewide race in Massachusetts. [[CNN / Alex Rogers and Kevin Brunelli](] - Though Kennedy is the younger candidate by far, the race isn’t shaping up along generational lines the way he might have hoped: With endorsements from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Sunrise Movement, polls suggest that Markey has the youth vote on his side. [[Washington Post / Dave Weigel](] - The Democratic primary in Massachusetts’ First District, where progressive Alex Morse is challenging Rep. Richard Neal, is another race to watch on Tuesday; Neal is a 16-term incumbent and chair of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. [[FiveThirtyEight / Nathaniel Rakich and Geoffrey Skelley](] - In early August, sexual misconduct allegations almost derailed Morse’s campaign — then supercharged it, after the Intercept revealed that the allegations appeared to be part of a political smear campaign. [[The Intercept / Eoin Higgins, Daniel Boguslaw, and Ryan Grim](] - Since then, the Morse campaign says it has raised more than half a million dollars and seen a surge in volunteer support; limited polling suggests Neal still leads the race, but at least one internal poll from the Morse campaign shows Morse might have gained ground. [[GQ / Mari Uyehara](] - Lastly, the Fourth District race to replace Kennedy in the House is a seven-way tangle with no clear leader. Whoever wins out, though, will be the prohibitive favorite to make it to Congress, as is the case everywhere in deep-blue Massachusetts (Republican governor notwithstanding). [[Vox / Li Zhou](] [Learn more about RevenueStripe...]( Spain is on the front lines of a second Covid-19 wave - In Spain, the coronavirus appears to be mounting a comeback. Health officials there announced on Monday that since Friday last week, the country had reported more than 23,000 new Covid-19 cases. [[Reuters / Nathan Allen and Joan Faus](] - Though Spain isn’t the only country in Europe dealing with rising case numbers, it’s in the gravest predicament: Covid-19 is spreading in Spain anywhere from twice as fast to 10 times as fast as in other European nations. [[NYT / Patrick Kingsley and José Bautista](] - So far, the government response has been primarily regional — which is causing problems, as regional pandemic restrictions require judicial approval in Spain, according to Politico, and in some cases have been overturned. [[Politico / Cristina Gallardo and Carlo Martuscelli](] - France is also bracing for a second wave after it reported its highest number of cases since May last week, and Paris is now enforcing a mask mandate. [[Axios / Jacob Knutsen](] - However, most French schools still reopened Tuesday for in-person instruction. According to Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer, “It’s one of the things where we have to say, ‘Life goes on, despite the epidemic.’ … Otherwise, we close everything and stay home. It’s the easiest, but it’s not good for children.” [[Washington Post / James McAuley](] MISCELLANEOUS “After you call this your country for so many years, you’re still not a part of its democracy”: A USCIS backlog could keep some aspiring citizens from the ballot box this fall. [[Washington Post / Michelle Ye Hee Lee](] - Donald Trump is inciting violence. [[Vox / Zack Beauchamp](] - Customs and Border Protection agents cannot conduct “credible fear” interviews for asylum seekers, a judge ruled Monday. [[NPR / Vanessa Romo](] - New York City will delay starting school for 10 days as teachers rush to prepare for students to come back to the classroom. [[NYT / Eliza Shapiro, Dana Rubinstein, and Emma G. Fitzsimmons](] - Herman Cain is dead. But that hasn’t stopped his Twitter account. [[Washington Post / Travis M.
