Clarke for Congress
First elected to Congress in 2006, I have worked tirelessly to improve the lives and opportunities of constituents in Brooklyn’s Ninth Congressional District, which includes Brownsville, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Midwood, parts of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Sheepshead Bay Gerritsen Beach, Madison, Ocean Hill, and Flatlands, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and Windsor Terrace. Alongside my colleagues, I worked to ensure the Affordable Health Care for America Act, the signature achievement of President Barack Obama’s historic presidency not only passed but provided coverage for 96% of Americans. I worked steadfastly to narrow income inequality, support small businesses, and help Brooklyn homeowners. I introduced bills, such as, the Adjusting for Income Disparity Act to create a new tax break for low-income families, and introduced the Save Our Neighborhoods Act, granting homeowners facing foreclosure new legal rights so they could keep their homes.
