{NAME}, Thank you for opening this email. Today, I am formally calling on the House Ethics Committee to launch an investigation into Ken Calvert’s latest self-dealing and corruption. I’ll explain more below. I don’t make this statement lightly, but Calvert’s blatant conflicts of interest have risen to the spotlight once again, and it is more urgent than ever before that we end his 30+ years in Congress. We began this fight to bring new people-first, reform-oriented leadership to Riverside County in the fall of 2021. Nearly three years later, we are closer to finishing the job than ever before. [That’s why, in light of the latest reports around Calvert’s corruption, I am asking for your $3 contribution to our campaign. There are less than 60 days until ballots drop, and we need all-hands-on deck. Please chip in what you can to help us flip this seat:]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Chip in $10 Now]( [Chip in $35 Now]( [Chip in $50 Now]( [Chip in $100 Now]( [Chip in $250 Now]( [Another amount]( Here are the latest developments. In July, the Los Angeles Times reported that Ken Calvert had brought home tens of millions of dollars worth of earmarks, a good deal of which conveniently fall near Calvert’s rental properties. Significant, because Calvert’s most infamous corruption scandal took place earlier in his career when he bought a vacant lot, secured a nearby freeway interchange and funding for commercial development in the area, and then shortly afterwards sold the property for a huge profit. Now, Calvert is back to his old tricks. That’s why a good-government watchdog group filed a formal ethics complaint into his self-dealing this week. Here’s the deal: while Inland Empire residents are facing rising housing costs, Ken Calvert has been lining his own pockets by using taxpayer dollars to secure earmarks near his own properties. It’s not just corrupt, it’s a blatant abuse of power — and that’s why I’m calling for a formal investigation into Calvert’s self-dealing. A big reason people lost trust in our government officials is because of political corruption like we’re seeing from Calvert right now. That's why one of the first bills I look forward to passing is a total ban on stock trading by Members of Congress. Insider trading is illegal for you and me, and that should be the case for politicians. [With ballots dropping in less than 60 days, we need to expose Calvert’s self-serving track record. Will you chip in $3 so we can make sure every single voter knows about Calvert’s corruption before they vote?]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Chip in $10 Now]( [Chip in $35 Now]( [Chip in $50 Now]( [Chip in $100 Now]( [Chip in $250 Now]( [Another amount]( Unlike Calvert, we’re running a people-powered campaign that rejects corporate PAC money, so I’m incredibly grateful for anything you can give.
