Take a look, {NAME}: [NPR published a story]( that highlights VoteRiders' latest research about who doesn't have ID — and why that matters in the face of an extreme proposal some members of Congress are pushing that would require proof of citizenship (such as a U.S. birth certificate or passport) to register to vote. "We've got a huge crisis on our hands when we think about the people who lack the documents required to prove their citizenship and identity. And we really need to think about the far-reaching implications for that when it comes to economic and social and voting access." [READ MORE FROM NPR]( Voter ID laws target the most vulnerable Americans, and this new proposal is no exception. VoteRiders’ own research shows that up to 35 million people lack a current, unexpired photo ID, and that many are from historically marginalized and underserved groups. Our research also found that over 21 million voting-age Americans could not easily access proof of citizenship, with people of color more likely to lack this type of vital document. For our democracy to thrive, we must ensure that everyone can make their voices heard. That's why VoteRiders is working tirelessly to reach out to the voters who are less likely to have an ID and make sure they have the information and free help they need to vote with confidence in November. [Be sure to read more about VoteRiders' research and work,]( and how it contributes to a stronger and more inclusive democracy. Thank you, Lauren Kunis CEO & Executive Director VoteRiders P.S. VoteRiders always covers the fees and transportation costs for any voter who needs our help securing their ID, because we believe money should never be a barrier to voting. [You can help!
