“Nothing is off the table” in showdown between Texas and the border patrol. {NAME},  The words “Civil War” started trending on socials this week, and it’s not because any new Ken Burns documentaries came out.  Here’s a quick recap of how we got here:  For the last six months, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has been inventing cruel and deadly new ways to trap and maim asylum seekers at our southern border.  First Abbott installed wrecking-ball-sized buoys wrapped in razor wire in the Rio Grande, leading to multiple life threatening injuries and deaths – many of them children and pregnant women. A federal judge declared these barriers illegal and ordered them removed.  Then Abbott ordered the Texas National Guard to install razor wire fencing along routes within U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s jurisdiction. Again, a federal judge ordered the razor wire removed.  When Texas didn’t comply with the court’s order, U.S. Border Patrol agents were sent to cut through the razor wire and remove it before anyone else was maimed or killed.  Texas sued to stop them. It went all the way to the Supreme Court – and Abbott lost.  But while the case was pending, Abbott upped the stakes by sending the Texas National Guard to Eagle Pass to occupy a city park along a 2.5 mile stretch of the river. It was there that 33-year-old Victerma de la Sancha Cerros and her two children, Yorlei (aged 10) and Jonathan (aged 8), all drowned.  Abbott’s troops were reportedly under orders to render NO assistance to any migrants in distress, and they refused to allow federal border patrol agents access to the park to do their job. All of them stood by and watched as Victerma and her children died.  This time Greg Abbott went too far, even for the Supreme Court’s extreme conservative supermajority. So last Monday, SCOTUS ruled that Biden’s border patrol agents have both the jurisdiction and the constitutional authority to remove the razor wire.  But Abbott wasn’t done. His National Guard troops continue to block access to the park in Eagle Pass, and have already added MORE razor wire. And our governor here in Arkansas agreed.  Republican governors in 25 states signed a joint statement in support of Abbott and his defying a legal order from our nation’s highest court.  As the map started to fill in, it immediately raised alarms about the possibility of another civil war. [A graphic featuring a map of the United States with 25 states colored red, Texas in dark gray, and the remaining states in light gray. The states in red are supporting Texas in defiance of the federal government. The caption reads: “Republican governors in 25 states, including Arkansas, sign on to support Texas’s cruelty against immigrants and defiance of SCOTUS ruling.”]( Adding gasoline to the fire (as he always does), Donald Trump demanded that "all willing states'' deploy their own National Guards to support Texas. Last summer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders sent 80 Arkansas National Guard troops down to Texas to prop up Abbott’s illegal buoy scheme – costing Arkansas taxpayers $1.3 MILLION.  In response to Trump’s latest demand, Sanders said: “nothing is off the table.”  {NAME}, if we EVER needed Congress to get their act together and pass a bipartisan federal solution to this dispute – and reform the systems that create this scenario in the first place – it’s right now.  But House Republicans are playing politics with people’s lives, shooting down a Senate bill before they’ve even seen the language. They are not good faith actors, and they are not interested in solving this crisis of their own making.  [Let’s send some serious public servants to Washington to handle business.
