{NAME} – Here’s something you don’t hear every day: We agree with Steve Womack. Ha

(Shocking, but in this case it’s true.) {NAME} – Here’s something you don’t hear every day: We agree with Steve Womack.  Hang on, I’ll explain.  We are barrelling toward a government shutdown. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has surrendered to the MAGA radicals in his party – and they’re calling all the shots.  And this bunch is eager for a shutdown. They’re not concerned about the billions of dollars a shutdown will cost or the hundreds of thousands of Americans – including active duty troops – who may be left hanging without a paycheck for who knows how long.  The GOP caucus won’t even bring the necessary bills to the floor for a vote. It’s Republican dysfunction – not disagreements between the two parties – that are going to force a shutdown at the end of this week.  There is NO REASON for this shutdown and it makes NO SENSE to let it happen.  Don’t take my word for it. Ask my congressman from Northwest Arkansas, Rep. Steve Womack, who was quoted last month in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette:  "Shutting government down is nonsensical to me. Government is designed to work – and it should work at whatever level.”  Womack is admitting that Republicans don’t know how to govern...and what can we say? We agree.  [Pitch in now to help Vortex elect four bold Democrats (nominated by YOU) next year and let’s show them how it’s done.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [  Express Donate: $500 >>Â]( [  Express Donate: $100 >>Â]( [  Express Donate: $50 >> Â]( [  Express Donate: $25 >> Â]( [  Donate Other Amount: >>]( Of course, Womack’s sudden candor begs a couple of important questions.  First, if he’s so frustrated by the policy demands and the tactics of the radical members of his party, why does he vote with them 90% of the time?  And second, why couldn’t Rep. Womack – who served as chair or ranking member of the House Budget Committee since the LAST shutdown – get a budget past his caucus?  Because Republicans don’t know how to govern.  All jokes aside, because this isn’t funny.  The last time Republicans forced a shutdown of the federal government it dragged on for 35 days. We lost $11 BILLION out of our economy and left hundreds of thousands of faithful public servants without a paycheck for over a month.  We’re not talking about faceless bureaucrats. Some of those folks work as support staff in federal buildings and barely make minimum wage. The last time Republicans did this, some of those folks lost their housing. Others racked up huge credit card bills just to keep the lights on and food in the fridge.  Think about it – could YOU go a month without a paycheck? Most Americans can’t.  Not to mention the impact a shutdown will have on people waiting for Social Security payments that may get delayed, or depending on food assistance that may be suspended.  If someone is willing to play games with people’s lives to score cheap political points and make clickbait for Newsmax, they have no business serving in Congress. And if our representatives can’t (or won’t) put a stop to that lunacy, what good are they?  Vortex is recruiting the strongest Democratic candidates from all across Arkansas to put an end to this mess. We’re training them (and their teams) to run competitive campaigns and FLIP these seats. And we are mobilizing voters in all 75 counties to say we’ve had ENOUGH of GOP dysfunction. It’s time to get out of the way and let the grown-ups lead.  [We have just under 60 days til filing day, when we will announce our slate of bold Democrats to flip these seats. Will you invest $100 (or any amount) right now to supercharge our candidate training program before they launch?](  Let’s go!
