{NAME},  Another community shattered. More families devastated. Four more lives cut tragically short.  The mass shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, last week is a horrific reminder that gun violence continues to plague our schools and communities. As a parent, I'm heartbroken. As an American, I'm outraged.  We've been here before - the horrific Uvalde school shooting, the Fordyce, Arkansas grocery store shooting in our own backyard that took lives across four generations – so many we’ve practically stopped counting.  And how did the GOP respond to this latest preventable tragedy?  Donald Trump, who was himself a recent target of a young man with a gun, told the crowd at his rally, “We have to get over it.” JD Vance said that school shootings are "a fact of life."  Both of them are wrong. Dead children in classrooms are not a fact of life – that’s a policy choice.  Not to be outdone, the same day that Georgia was grappling with the aftermath of this shooting, the Arkansas GOP was making moves to allow guns at school bus stops, parades, and more!  Why? Who is asking for this crazy stuff? How does any of this make us safer?  Governor Tim Walz took Vance to task. At an annual dinner for the LGBTQ+ advocacy group Human Rights Campaign, Walz said: "It's a fact of life some people are gay. But you know what's not a fact of life? That our children need to be shot dead in schools."  To drive the point home, he added, "Folks are banning books, but they're okay with weapons of war being in our schools."  We cannot accept this as normal. We cannot let our kids practice active shooter drills while politicians do nothing. We cannot let the gun lobby dictate policy that puts profits over lives.  Our state ranks dead last in gun safety laws and 9th highest in gun deaths nationally.  Vortex is committed to electing leaders who will fight for common sense gun safety and work to keep our communities safe. But we can't do it without you.  Your contribution today will help us:  - Elect candidates committed to addressing the root causes of gun violence  - Run messaging holding politicians who block reform accountable  - Fund grassroots organizing to mobilize voters on this critical issue  [You can help with a contribution of $25, $50, $100, or $250 today. We are working to FLIP all four House seats BLUE - and we only have 58 days left do to it before election day on November 5th.Â]( [Flip Arkansas Blue >>]( Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to a future where parents don't have to fear for their children's lives when they drop them off at school.  I know it's easy to feel helpless in the face of such tragedy. But we are not powerless. Together, we can demand action and create change.  Thank you for your commitment to building a safer future for all our children.  Thank you,  Dr. Chris Jones [Support Vortex PAC >>](      Vortex PAC is a new grassroots movement to transform Arkansas politics away from the far-right.
