Redefining 'rural': A message from the heart of Arkansas

What Jennifer Garner and Will Watson know. {NAME},  I'm inspired by what my friend Will Watson said recently:  "I'm tired of hearing 'rural' means one thing. In Arkansas, it means Black folks & white folks swapping fishing tips & admiring the same bass boat, and Asian & Latino immigrants selling produce at an Arkansas farmers market." Rural Arkansas is diverse, vibrant, and full of potential.  I was honored to join Will and over 2,000 other rural organizers and supporters on a call this week for Rural Americans for Harris to rally behind the Harris-Walz ticket.  The energy was electric - so much so that it even drew Hollywood star Jennifer Garner, who hails from rural West Virginia.  There's something special happening with the Harris-Walz campaign. It's energizing people from all walks of life, from farmers in Arkansas to celebrities in California who remember and honor their roots.  They recognize what we've long known - that rural America is the heartbeat of this nation, and it's time for leadership that truly understands us.  Enough of the division!
