‘Abortion Surveillance’ is the GOP’s next dystopian fever dream. {NAME}, There

‘Abortion Surveillance’ is the GOP’s next dystopian fever dream. {NAME},  There’s a disturbing new trend emerging in the GOP’s unrelenting war on women’s bodies – Abortion Surveillance.  The first warning sign showed up last year when Florida considered making it mandatory for female student athletes to report their menstrual cycle details to the school system.  Then, the Heritage Foundation published Project 2025 with chilling details of their plans to weaponize the CDC against women to conduct “abortion surveillance.” [A graphic featuring a paragraph quoted from the Rolling Stone article, “Inside the MAGA plan to attack birth control, surveil women, and ban the abortion pill.” The quoted text reads: “Those plans – and many more, including proposals to attack contraception access, use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to increase ‘abortion surveillance’ and data collection, rescind a Department of Defense policy to ‘prohibit abortion travel funding,’ punish states that require health insurance plans to cover abortion, and retool a law that is currently protecting pregnant women with life-threatening conditions – are outlined in Project 2025’s ‘Mandate for Leadership”. The quote is set against the faded background image of Trump addressing a crowd of MAGA supporters in front of the White House, and the words “use the Centers for Disease Control” and “abortion surveillance” are underlined in red for extra emphasis.]( And now the latest.  In a pair of interviews with TIME Magazine, Donald Trump admitted that (if elected again) he would allow states like Arkansas to “monitor women’s pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans.” [A graphic featuring the Time Magazine logo, a photo of Donald Trump, and an excerpt from Time’s latest report. The excerpt reads as follows: “What emerged in two interviews with Trump, and conversations with more than a dozen of his closest advisers and confidants, were the outlines of an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world. To carry out a deportation operation designed to remove more than 11 million people from the country, Trump told me, he would be willing to build migrant detention camps and deploy the U.S. military, both at the border and inland. He would let red states monitor women's pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans. He would, at his personal discretion, withhold funds appropriated by Congress, according to top advisers.”]( I don’t have to tell you how deeply alarming this is.  However slim a chance it may be that Donald Trump wins in November, our last best hope of stopping him is a Congress that he can’t control. That means taking back the House Majority.  And on that front, I do have good news.  House Republicans are so mired in their own dysfunction that their caucus has been losing members since last year – and they’re down to a single seat majority.  If Democrats hold EVERY seat we currently have in Congress and flip just a few more, we’ll hold the majority and be there to serve as a check against Trump’s abuse of power.  [We’ve got four bold Democrats on the ballot here in Arkansas, hand selected by YOU, and we’re pulling out all the stops to help them win. You can help by making a contribution to support our work to turn out Democrats and Independents across the state.]( [DONATE NOW]( We can’t afford to treat this like an idle threat. Republicans have repeatedly broadcast their intention to criminalize abortion. They’ve even gone so far as to push a nation-wide abortion ban as extreme as Arkansas’s – a bill that THREE of our representatives have co-sponsored in the last few years.  We can put an end to that threat in November by flipping these seats and taking back the House majority for Democrats.  Let’s go!  Robb [Support Vortex PAC >>](      Vortex PAC is a new grassroots movement to transform Arkansas politics away from the far-right.
