Sarah Huckabee Sanders is attacking my family

{NAME},  There is a nationwide sweep of anti-LGBTQIA legislation driven by far-right Republican state legislatures and MAGA governors. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is certainly doing her part to see that our LGBTQ family, friends, and neighbors are stripped of their rights.  And my family is in the crosshairs.  Last month, Sanders issued a new policy through the Department of Finance and Administration that mandates your driver’s license gender has to match the gender assigned at birth according to your birth certificate.  This move instantly invalidates the identity of thousands of Arkansans who want nothing more than to live and be seen as their full authentic selves.  As the father of a trans kid, I know firsthand how policies and laws like this impact LGBTQIA folks – driving higher rates of depression and suicidal ideation, and subjecting them to state-sanctioned harassment and abuse.  Arkansas has long been an incubator for the worst ideas the far right can cook up. If Sanders is chosen to be Trump’s VP, she will be in a position to drive her hateful agenda against kids like mine in EVERY state.  But we can stop them if we flip the House and hold the Senate majority this November.  With your support, Vortex recruited four bold Democrats to run in every congressional seat up for re-election this year. If this trend continues at the current pace, we’ll end up with TRIPLE the number of anti-trans bills introduced in 2023. But Sanders’ latest move proves that she doesn’t need the legislature to impose a hateful agenda that harms our families.  This is how the GOP builds consensus for their national agenda: They chip away at our rights in states like Arkansas, and eventually they bring it to Congress.  [But we can flip the script and, with a Democratically controlled Congress, pass federal protections for LGBTQIA rights so that MAGA radicals like Sarah Huckabee Sanders can’t force their extreme ideology on the rest of us.](  We started Vortex to break Arkansas free from the grip of extremists like Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
