The GOP will stop at NOTHING to end abortion {NAME} – This is a complicated story, but it’s important.  The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week from a coalition of far-right groups trying to block FDA approval of an essential, SAFE reproductive medication.  Mifepristone is one of two drugs used in medical abortions, as well as the treatment of miscarriages and other reproductive conditions. Pro-life groups told the Court that at-home access to the drug infringes on doctors’ rights.  According to the complainants, if mifepristone is available by mail as it has been since before Roe was overturned, then women who have an adverse reaction to the drug will go to the emergency room – and these doctors could be forced to play a role in an abortion against their beliefs.  The justices weren’t buying it.  There are longstanding laws that protect healthcare providers’ right to turn away patients for reasons related to personal values and their conscience. Not a single doctor or attorney could give the bench an example of that right being violated as a result of a patient taking mifepristone.  Republican lawmakers must have seen this hurdle ahead of time, because 145 of them – two from Arkansas – filed an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to rule against the FDA for an entirely different reason.  The GOP members backing this brief, including Arkansas Reps. French Hill and Bruce Westerman, urged SCOTUS to end at-home use of this safe drug because of a law from the 1800s that has NEVER been enforced.  The Comstock Act is a federal law banning the delivery of “lewd” materials through the postal service, and Republicans want to enforce it for the first time in U.S. history as a weapon to limit access to abortion – even in states where it’s legal.  The pro-lifers who brought this case also leaned on this outdated legislation on Tuesday, claiming that the FDA broke the law by allowing mifepristone to be ordered through the mail.  {NAME}, this was an organized effort. Republican politicians, strategists, and their wealthy donors are working together to restrict women’s rights and make abortion as dangerous and inaccessible as possible, by ANY means necessary.  [Our Vortex candidates are ready to unseat the Republican House members supporting this crusade on reproductive rights and work tirelessly to put a stop to it in Congress. The 145 Republicans were ready with the Comstock amicus brief. The challengers were ready with the Comstock argument.  Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas agreed that the Comstock Act should play a role in this decision, even though it has never influenced any court decision before. Now the New York Times is reporting that Donald Trump’s team has a plan to enforce this law if he wins in November.  {NAME}, in the worst case scenario, the Comstock Act could be enacted to force a nationwide ban on both medication-based AND surgical abortion.  This election is not a repeat of 2020’s “stop Trump to protect democracy.” There are actual lives on the line this year, and Trump is only part of the threat.  Vortex and our candidates are doing all we can to make sure 2024 is the last year that Republicans have the power to do harm to our laws, our loved ones, and our country.  [We can only do it with your support.](  Thank you, Robb [Support Vortex PAC >>](      Vortex PAC is a new grassroots movement to transform Arkansas politics away from the far-right.
