Florida is a testing ground for anti-LGBTQ and racist policies. [LGBTQ Victory Fund logo][THANK YOU FLORIDA STATE SENATOR SHEVRIN JONES & FLORIDA STATE REPRESENTATIVE MICHELE RAYNER-GOOLSBY FOR STANDING UP TO GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE STANDING WITH THEM!]( Friend, You've probably seen the headlines: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has chosen, once again, to take another bigoted stance. This time, he's trying to cut AP African American Studies, saying these essential classes "significantly lack educational value" AND stating "this course on Black history, what's one of the lessons about? Queer theory ... that's the wrong side of the line for Florida standards". But Florida state Senator Shevrin Jones - the first out person elected to the state Senate - and Florida state Representative Michele Rayner-Goolsby - the first Black out LGBTQ woman elected to the legislature - are speaking out against DeSantis's hate. [We're sending them a card to say THANK YOU for their hard work: add your name here!]( Shevrin and Michele are working tirelessly to ensure that the anti-LGBTQ and anti-Black policies pushed by DeSantis aren't easily passed. As Shevrin noted in a recent interview with NPR, Florida is a testing ground for anti-LGBTQ and racist policies. By standing up to DeSantis, they're sending a clear signal that actions like these won't be tolerated. [We must stand with them and send them a HUGE thank you for all their hard work! Add your name and let Shevrin and Michele know you're on their side!]( Thank you to all the Black LGBTQ elected and appointed officials who are speaking out against hate - and thanks for having their back. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
