In the past, investors could find “dark horse” companies in the stock market and enjoy tidy returns from them. But now? Venture capitalists exploded in the last two decades, and more startups are choosing to go public later than ever. Let’s look at the past technology companies. Apple, Microsoft, and Oracle were the classic tech companies in the 1980s. In the graphic below, you can see the public value creation (purple) to be very high. However, more recent companies (LinkedIn, Yelp, Facebook and Twitter) showed that most of the value creation occurred as a private company (blue). More specifically, let’s look at Oracle. It went public in 1986 at a valuation of $526 million (in today’s dollars). That was literally pennies compared to the valuations of modern startups going IPO. Take Snowflake as an example. It went public at a valuation of $33 billion – or 62 times bigger than Oracle. What does this mean? Life-changing returns simply don’t exist as often in the stock market – thanks to the explosion of venture capital and private equity. Startups have access to virtually unlimited capital to finance their growth while remaining private as long as possible. As a result, the bulk of “big-time” returns are locked to those investors with connections to venture capital and private equity firms. So, the biggest returns are very, very likely to come from the private markets. Not the stock market. Here’s the bottom line – the game of investing has changed. So, what should you do about it? Don’t worry – we’ve developed special presentation for you to learn more about getting into the secretive world of Pre-IPO investing to seize the enormous opportunity in private technology startups… …including how you can get started as soon as this week. The presentation begins today at 2pm PT / 5pm ET. You will also learn how you can claim BONUS shares in our #1 pre-IPO pick as part of our Cyber Monday sale. This is good for today only. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
