I rarely get a spare moment to reflect these days – but this morning, I came across this photo of my family from back when I was a kid. I have to admit, I got a little teary-eyed. I grew up the daughter of a maid and a janitor in the 1960s South – and today, I'm running to represent my state in the U.S. Senate. Friend, only in America could a poor Black girl have achieved this level of opportunity. I hope I've made my parents proud. It's truly astounding that I'm on the cusp of winning this race: Polls showed me tied with Marco Rubio – but I'm coming up short on my goal heading into our final FEC reporting deadline at midnight tonight. I'm so close, friend. I just need to close this fundraising gap to take the lead. I hate asking for money.
