Those of us who benefit from their sacrifices have a shared responsibility to have their backs in return. The importance of supporting our veterans and service members is a core value in my family, passed down to me by my dad, Kirk Douglas. Kirk not only wore a military uniform on screen but also in the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in 1941, right after Pearl Harbor, and his lifelong commitment to our nation's heroes inspired my own. Under extraordinary circumstances, service members past and present have shown us what it means to uphold our country's most treasured values. In playing our Founding Father Benjamin Franklin for the upcoming limited series "Franklin," I was reminded just how fragile American freedom once was and still is today — and of the tireless work our service members do to protect it, centuries later. To thank them, I'm asking you to join me in supporting the USO to help them continue their invaluable work on behalf of our courageous heroes. [Please, join me and donate $29 (or $52 for two shirts) right now to receive your limited edition 2024 USO T-shirt and show the members of our military the appreciation they deserve.]( I'm proud to wear my support for the USO in honor of my father and all who have valiantly served. I hope you'll consider contributing to this important cause. Thank you, Michael Douglas United Service Organizations, Inc.
