Your January 2024 Coins Online Has Arrived. Having trouble viewing this email? [View this message in your browser.]( [SHOP]( | [PRODUCT SCHEDULE]( | [CUSTOMER SERVICE]( | [LEARN]( | [NEWS]( | [ABOUT]( Coins Online January 2024 • Collect What You Love The Greatest Generation of Heroes When you’re young, you learn about heroes from books and movies. They have powers like invulnerability or flying and they do superhuman things like saving cities, saving the planet, saving mankind. But how heroic is someone who cannot be hurt? It’s easy to stand in front of a laser when you’re impervious to lasers. It’s only when you’re older you realize that heroism isn’t about superpowers, it’s about sacrifice. It’s not about being fearless, it’s about rising above fear. It isn’t about having great power, it’s about wielding great power with great responsibility. We are surrounded by heroes, but we don’t recognize them because books and movies tell us over and over to be a hero you need power, but that’s not true, you just need to be brave and do what is right, do what is just. That’s why we call them the Greatest Generation, they were a generation of heroes, real heroes. The 2024 Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Program honors the bravery, service, and sacrifice of American soldiers and civilians during World War II, ordinary people who answered the call in the fight against tyranny. By the end of the war, 16 million people had served in the Armed Forces of the United States; more than 400,000 died. They were not the only heroes, ordinary civilians across America made significant sacrifices to support the people brave enough to serve. They joined the workforce despite their own family obligations, they planted victory gardens even if they would not enjoy the fruits of their labor and they rationed their food so that those on the front line could have enough to eat. Through their sacrifices on the Homefront, through the bravery of the soldiers on the Frontline, we achieved victory together, for all of us. This inspiring commemorative coin program features three coins, one clad, one silver, and one gold. They will be available for introductory or pre-order pricing on February 29, 2024. Surcharges in the amount of $35 for each $5 gold coin sold; $10 for each silver dollar sold; and $5 for each half dollar sold—totaling $50 for each three-coin set sold—are authorized to be provided to the non-profit Friends of the National World War II Memorial to support the National Park Service in maintaining and repairing the National World War II Memorial, and for educational and commemorative programs. [Learn More]( Liberty Spreads We are excited to introduce the 4th coin in our 5-coin series dedicated to the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. The series uses the lifecycle of the oak tree from seedling to a mighty oak as a metaphor for our country's growth as a Nation that values freedom. Liberty grows to a thing of strength and beauty from a seed - our Bill of Rights. Each of the freedoms enumerated in the First Amendment contributes to the growth and development of the Nation. This 99.95% platinum coin depicts the right of the people to peaceably assemble, a core principle of our democratic society. Without the right to peaceably assemble, citizens could not organize and meet to address grievances against the government or take a stand against injustice. This coin depicts several types of oak leaves, assembled together. The inscription “Liberty Spreads” references the nature of trees that spread through their leaves and seeds, much like liberty spreads from its people when they assemble, talk together, and unite. This right and the others before it, are a promise of the founders of this Nation that We the People will choose our destiny and we choose our destiny by choosing our leaders. This stunning coin will be available for sale on February 15 so mark your calendars! This coin and medal are the result of a collaboration from the United States Mint and The Royal Mint, specifically our Chief Engravers Joe Menna (US) and Gordon Summers (UK). Of course, we’re talking about the Liberty & Britannia Gold Coin and Silver Medal. This is the first time these two personifications, Liberty and Britannia, have appeared on a coin together, a piece of numismatic history in the making. This collaboration represents the long and storied relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. Both nations have enjoyed the prosperity of friendship and peace for centuries. For collectors who want to collect them all, [check out The Royal Mint for their version of this coin and medal]( which include the required portrait of their monarch.
