Maternal health is one of UNFPA’s core pillars. [USA for UNFPA]( Did you know that every two minutes, a woman dies of completely preventable pregnancy or childbirth complications? That amounts to 800 needless deaths every day. For every woman who loses her life to a pregnancy or childbirth complication, 20 to 30 additional women experience infections, injuries, or disabilities. These devastating stats are the reality for too many pregnant women worldwide, which is why UNFPA has made maternal health one of the core pillars of our work to uplift women and girls. [Woman with her two newborns after giving birth]( [MAKE MOTHERHOOD SAFE]( UNFPA is working to make motherhood safe and your donations are making it happen. Powered by humanitarian gifts, UNFPA is: - Reaching women with skilled prenatal and postpartum care — to ensure women have the medicine and nutrition they need for healthy pregnancies, that they and their newborns recover safely after birth, and that life-threatening issues are identified and treated before it’s too late. - Training, equipping, and deploying midwives around the world, so women everywhere have the care they need during pregnancy and childbirth. We also provide emergency obstetric care so that if something does go wrong, women survive. - Providing women with access to family planning counseling, so they have the information and resources they need to prevent unintended pregnancy — a leading contributor to maternal deaths. In 2022 alone, UNFPA efforts helped avert 30,800 maternal deaths, prevent 13.3 million unintended pregnancies, and safely deliver 1.4 million babies in crisis settings. [There’s so much more work to do to prevent maternal deaths and injuries around the globe. Will you make a donation to help women safely deliver their babies?]( [Donate $80 to support a midwife through four deliveries]( [Donate $100 to provide a midwife with lifesaving training]( [Donate $375 to cover the cost of an obstetric fistula repair surgery]( [Donate another amount to make motherhood safe]( Making motherhood safe is a human rights imperative and is at the core of our mandate. Thank you for supporting this critical mission. — USA for UNFPA [usaforunfpa.org]( | info@usaforunfpa.org | [Privacy Policy]( SENT BY USA FOR UNFPA: THE UN SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AGENCY What does UNFPA stand for?
