My visit to Jordan also highlighted some pressing concerns. [USA for UNFPA]( Hi there! I’m Dana, and last month, I visited UNFPA’s programs in Jordan. I’ll be sharing with you the impact of your incredible support on the ground: [Dana outside a clinic in Jordan]( [MAKE A GIFT]( Yesterday, we visited a UNFPA clinic in Amman. The clinic's breadth of services is truly impressive, and their holistic approach to care is evident everywhere. Not only do women receive medical check-ups when they come in for prenatal care, but they’re also provided with invaluable nutrition advice to prevent anemia and ensure the health of both them and their babies. And it doesn’t stop there — the clinic takes the extra step to educate her on the signs of violence and offers support, ensuring that survivors are not left to face their traumas alone. The clinic also hosts awareness sessions on critical issues such as domestic violence, child marriage prevention, menstrual health, family planning, economic empowerment, and more. I had the chance to meet a group of girls attending an informational session on periods. Given the cultural constraints that prevent open discussions on this topic, these sessions are a lifeline for these young girls. The knowledge shared by these dedicated UNFPA clinic staff ensures that they can navigate their own bodies and lives with confidence and autonomy. Another standout feature of the clinic is its childcare facility, which allows mothers to focus on their appointments while their children receive general check-ups, hearing tests, and even their necessary vaccinations. [Worker in Jordan clinic]( That said, my visit also highlighted some pressing concerns. I learned that emergency contraceptives, which are essential for reproductive health care and especially in the clinical management of rape, are scarcely available in Jordan. In fact, their primary source of contraceptives come from our UNFPA kits. The limited accessibility of contraception, coupled with the alarming rise in child marriages among Syrians in Jordan – now reaching 79% since the onset of COVID – underscore the urgency and importance of the clinic’s work. This extensive range of services would not be possible without the contributions of supporters like you. Your generosity ensures that every woman and child who walks through the clinic's doors is met with care, respect, and the resources they need to build a brighter future. [Will you consider making a gift today to help fuel our lifesaving work in Jordan and in the more than 150 countries where UNFPA operates?]( Thank you for continuing to stand with us in our mission. Together, we are making a difference.
