We have urgent updates out of Lebanon. [USA for UNFPA]( We have urgent updates out of Lebanon, where escalating hostilities in the south have displaced over 113,000 people, including 31,655 women of reproductive age and 9,045 adolescent girls. 1,300 women are currently pregnant, with 146 expected to deliver within the next month. [Will you rush a gift to deliver lifesaving care today?]( [RUSH AN EMERGENCY GIFT]( Pregnant women are enduring physical and mental distress because of the hostilities and as they are forced to flee their homes. Many have lost contact with their care providers. They are anxious about how and where they will deliver their babies as the health system, already stretched thin before the current crisis, may not be able to accommodate their needs. "I just arrived at a shelter thinking I was going to give birth right away. I don't know how long I'm going to be here, but I'm a little relieved that I now know where to seek support when I'm so close to labor,” said one woman fleeing violence who is eight months pregnant. Due to the traffic, it took this woman three days to reach the shelter. On the third day she started experiencing pain and thought she had gone into labor. When she finally reached the shelter, she was transported to a nearby UNFPA-supported health facility where an OBGYN performed an ultrasound. The doctor reassured her that the pain was induced by stress and exhaustion, and that she and her unborn child were okay. [To reach more women and girls in need, we urgently need more funding to deliver immediate assistance and support existing services for affected communities. Will you rush an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care in Lebanon and wherever women and girls need your support?]( [RUSH AN EMERGENCY GIFT]( Thank you for being there for women and girls in moments like this. — USA for UNFPA [usaforunfpa.org]( | info@usaforunfpa.org | [Privacy Policy]( SENT BY USA FOR UNFPA: THE UN SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AGENCY What does UNFPA stand for?
