Despite the insurmountable circumstances, UNFPA continues to provide support to women in Gaza. Almos

Despite the insurmountable circumstances, UNFPA continues to provide support to women in Gaza. [USA for UNFPA]( Almost 90% of Gaza’s 1.9 million population have been displaced at least once, searching for something that does not exist: safety. [A mother and her baby amidst rubble in Gaza]( An estimated 46,300 pregnant women in Gaza are experiencing crisis levels of hunger. More than 17,000 pregnant women are on the verge of famine, while nearly 11,000 pregnant women are already in famine. Iman, who is pregnant and suffering from malnutrition, lives with her daughters in a tent in the Rafah area. [Iman and her daughters in Gaza]( Duaa, the mother of two twin girls, pictured below, gave birth to her third child during the conflict. The family has moved multiple times, struggling to find enough to eat and find comfort amongst the rubble. [Duaa's twin daughters in Gaza]( Ongoing hostilities, repeated evacuation orders, and the challenges of delivering humanitarian assistance have rendered pregnancy unsafe for women. Despite the insurmountable circumstances, UNFPA continues to provide support to women like Iman, Duaa, and their families. With the health system in tatters, some nurses and doctors are volunteering to provide primary medical services from within displacement tents, including care for pregnant and postpartum women. Like Nurse Jenin, who provides free services for pregnant women and children from a tent she set up in a displacement site. [Nurse Jenin in Gaza]( UNFPA has deployed six mobile maternal health units to provide emergency obstetric care, trained additional midwives, supported survivors of violence, and distributed lifesaving equipment and supplies to the few hospitals that remain partially operational. [You can make a difference today. Please make a gift to provide emergency health care services to pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns in Gaza and beyond.]( [MAKE AN EMERGENCY GIFT]( We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas. The suffering must end and peace must prevail. Thank you for not looking away from this crisis. — USA for UNFPA [usaforunfpa.org]( | info@usaforunfpa.org | [Privacy Policy]( SENT BY USA FOR UNFPA: THE UN SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AGENCY What does UNFPA stand for?
