UNFPA is a global leader in the fight to empower women to plan their pregnancies. [USA for UNFPA]( Did you know that half of all pregnancies around the world are unintended? But, right now, 218 million women around the world who want to avoid pregnancy are unable to access modern and effective contraceptives. They face barriers like a lack of information or support services, social stigma, resistance from partners or family members, and supply shortages. Worldwide, these barriers contribute to over 121 million unintended pregnancies each year. These unintended pregnancies upend lives. Women may be forced to abandon their education or careers, to stay in abusive relationships, and to undertake financial burdens that perpetuate the cycle of poverty. Some unintended pregnancies will even result in death — with 260,000 women dying every year from pregnancy and childbirth complications and many more face life-altering injuries, infections, and disabilities. One-third of preventable maternal deaths could be eliminated by providing access to family planning — which is why it’s a core pillar of UNFPA’s work. [Will you help contribute to a world where every pregnancy is wanted and women have the resources to plan their pregnancies by making a gift today? Your donation will fuel crucial family planning work and other lifesaving services for women and girls across the globe.]( [SUPPORT FAMILY PLANNING]( Family planning is a human right. It gives women the power and agency to decide if, when, and with whom to have children. It’s also central to gender equality and poverty reduction since it enables women to complete their education, pursue their career goals, and strengthen their economic security and well-being. UNFPA is a global leader in the fight to empower women to plan their pregnancies. Just look at the impact gifts from supporters made in one year: [13.3 million women prevented unwanted pregnancies, 5.1 million couples were able to plan their families, and 1 billion condoms and other contraceptives were distributed.]( When women and girls have the power to decide if and when to get pregnant, they can pursue their education and careers and create safer, healiter families, communities, and the world. [Will you empower more women to plan their families and help reduce preventable maternal deaths by making a gift today?]( [SUPPORT FAMILY PLANNING]( Thank you for supporting this critical work. — USA for UNFPA [usaforunfpa.org]( | info@usaforunfpa.org | [Privacy Policy]( SENT BY USA FOR UNFPA: THE UN SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AGENCY What does UNFPA stand for?
