1 [Guy reveals why the 'old man praying’ painting you see everywhere is not what it seems]( The painting of an old devout man praying over a bowl of gruel and a loaf of bread in front of a Bible is one of the most popular pieces of 20th century American art. The piece is called “Grace” and you’ll find it in homes, churches and even restaurants. I clearly remember there was a copy of it hanging on the wall at my corner burger joint, Mack’s Burgers, in Torrance, California, in the ’80s. Sadly, it’s been torn down and is now a Jack in the Box. However ubiquitous the photo may be, a new video by pop culture [YouTube user Austin McConnell]( that “Grace” isn’t really what it seems. “Grace” was originally a photograph taken in 1918, during World War I, by Eric Enstrom, a Swedish American from Bovey, Minnesota. Enstrom was preparing some photographs to take with him to a convention when Charles Wilden, a salesman selling boot scrapers, came to his door, and he know he had to take his photo. Over his 83 years, Perrett worked a number of roles including that of a pharmacist, a football player, a property investor, and a philanthropist. Perret had not only amassed a multi-million-dollar fortune in his lifetime but much of it was given away to charity. A bulk of his riches, $19.6 million of it, had gone to the Royal Melbourne Hospital's nephrology department. Towards the end of his life, Perrett moved into a nursing home while battling Parkinson's disease but he made a mark in his community as one of the most generous men they had ever seen. He sadly died in September 2020 at the age of 86. According to [My Tributes]( Perrett's " friendships were few but cherished." He grew up playing football and tennis and enjoyed riding across the paddocks. He spent "most of his professional life as a pharmacist in Main Road West, and (for a time) also worked a small farm his father had bought. He was devoted to his father and cared for him in his last years. In the last little while John followed his father's decline, and died at peace." [Read the story]( Did a friend forward this to you? Here are 5 unforgettable moments.]( In 1993, Michael Jackson was the most famous person in the world but his image was severely tarnished by countless bizarre rumors. Why was he turning white? How much cosmetic surgery did he have? Did he really try to buy the Elephant Man’s bones? Why did he grab his crotch during performances? What was his sexual orientation? Did he sleep in a hyperbaric chamber? Why does a grown man love to play with children in a home filled with theme park rides and exotic animals? To add to the controversy, Jackson’s most recent album “Dangerous,” which sold around 20 million copies, was seen as a [“disappointment”]( because it failed to reach the status of his previous albums “Bad” (1987) and “Thriller” (1982). To help improve his public image, Jackson sat down for a live, 90-minute interview from his Neverland Ranch in Santa Ynez, California, with Oprah Winfrey. At a time when the media landscape was far less fragmented, the interview was a massive event that drew more than[90 million viewers.]( [Read the story]( 4 [Why do ASMR videos give some people satisfying 'tingles' while driving others bananas?]( I'd never heard of ASMR when my kids started talking about how "satisfying" ASMR videos were. They had shared other "satisfying" videos with me, such as [machinery making precise movements]( Play-Doh being squished through holes, and more. I understood what they found appealing about them and I figured ASMR videos would be similar. They weren't. For those who are unfamiliar with it, [ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response]( which refers to the deep relaxation and tingling sensation some people experience from certain triggers, such as sounds. The sounds we're talking about, however, are not the soothing music or birds chirping or ocean waves one might normally associate with [relaxation](. They're things like hair brushing, scraping fingernails on a plastic water bottle and mouth crackles, all amplified with a powerful microphone.
