[Mama orangutan's tender moments with her 3-month-old baby are melting everyone's hearts]( There's nothing like the magic of new motherhood, when you find yourself spending hours marveling at the incredible being you helped create and gazing at their impossibly tiny and adorable features. It's sweet when humans do it, but seeing animals have those kinds of tender moments with their babies is so endearing. Sekali, a Sumatran orangutan who lives at the Toronto Zoo, gave birth to a baby in April. In a video shared by the zoo, the baby gets some "tummy time" while Sekali gently strokes and cuddles him. "Sekali continues to take excellent care of her little one, and he appears to be more alert and mobile," the zoo shared. "Keepers are seeing the baby standing up while holding onto mom and sitting up on his own now, so he is growing stronger each day." The little guy is cute cute cute, but Sekali picking up his foot and "kissing" it is the sweetest darn thing ever.
[Singing trio of cousins gets Dolly Parton's seal of approval for 'Jolene'-inspired song]( Miss the bygone era of three-girl bands? Then meet Chapel Hart, a trio of country-singing cousins (two sisters and a first cousin) from Mississippi who recently appeared on âAmericaâs Got Talent.â They not only wowed judges and earned a Golden Buzzerâthey also caught the eyes of one of country musicâs most beloved superstars. The trio delighted audiences with âYou Can Have Him, Jolene,â an original song inspired by their absolute favorite singerâand suggestion for the next presidentâDolly Parton. In this version, rather than pleading with Jolene to not steal the man away, Chapel Hart hilariously decides that, on second thoughts, âhe donât mean much to me," so Jolene can go ahead and take him. If thatâs not the epitome of classic-with-a-twist, then I donât know what is. To add to their already glorious victory (with all judges plus host Terry Crews hitting the buzzer to take them onto the next round), Chapel Hartâs charming, infectious performance was seen by the Queen of Nashville herself.
[Watch two kittens with a rare muscular condition undergo an unbelievable transformation]( Vets suggested that Tiny Tina and Oopsie Daisy, two adorable kitten siblings, be put down due to an odd quirk they sharedâendless shaking. Tiny Tina and Oopsie Daisy were born with cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that affects a kittyâs fine motor skills, balance and coordination (VCA Animal Hospitals). It can occur when a pregnant cat is severely malnourished, orâmore commonlyâbecomes infected with feline panleukopenia virus and passes the infection to her unborn kittens. Symptoms of cerebellar hypoplasia might not become apparent until the kitten begins to walk around on its own, but usually involve jerky movements. Itâs typical to see a wobbly gait known as hypermetria, as well as mild tremors, some of which may become more pronounced the more a cat tries to perform some kind of focused activity such as playing or drinking. A now viral TikTok posted by their owner shows Tiny Tina and Oopsie Daisy go from looking like theyâve had too many shots of espresso to having no apparent symptoms whatsoever. It might look like a miracle. But really, itâs just the result of patience and love.
['First Down' introduces us to the inspiring world of girls' tackle football in Utah]( Iâm not sporty or athletic, but that doesnât stop me from loving a good sports story. Especially when those stories are focused on women and girls. So when I was introduced to âFirst Downâ as a part of this yearâs Outfest, I knew it was absolutely the kind of sports story I would love. This short film tells the story of an underdog team in Americaâs first girls' tackle football league. Living in Utah, the girls, along with their coach Crys Sacco, have to overcome personal hardships to help the team to victory. The filmâs director, Carrie Stett, talked to me about this dynamic group of young women and their beloved coach, and how sports can change lives.
