Education on Black History Matters. Celebration of Black History Matters. The Mental Health of Black People Matters.]( February is Black History Month. For some, this is an opportunity to acknowledge and hold space for both the pain of the past and the continued struggles of the present, in tandem with celebrations for the community and people who have inspired change, justice, and healing. For others, it is an opportunity to pay attention to Black voices and stories that need to be heard. Across the country and around the world, organizations are making a difference in the lives of Black people seeking culturally competent care for their mental health. We cannot understate the importance of having access to a provider who can say, “I’ve been where you are. I know how you feel. You are not alone.” Keep reading for some resources made for Black people by Black people, as well as some stories from our blog written by Black individuals. [The Mental Health of Black People Matters.]( Having access to therapists and mental health programs that intimately understand the unique barriers and challenges that impact the Black community is one huge way to help Black people get the support they deserve when asking for help.
