The Olympic Stadium takes centre stage for an action-packed evening of athletics, starting with the heptathlon javelin at 00.00, the penultimate discipline of the event. The men's pole vault qualifying gets under way at 00.20, with the men's 400m semi-finals at 00.30 and the men's long jump final at 00.50. Reigning Olympic, world, European and Commonwealth champion Rutherford will be hoping to add to his glittering list of honours with another Olympic gold.
