[Going to College Hurts: Women of Color Bear Disproportionate Share of Student Debt Burden](
Jessicah Pierre, OtherWords:Â A recent report found that on average, Black women that graduated from a four-year university in 2012 carried more than $29,000 in student loans -- nearly $10,000 more than the average man. Worse still, Black women only make 63 cents to every dollar a white man makes, and Latina women make 54 cents to the dollar. Graduates of color start out deeper in debt and then have a much harder time getting out.
