[“Who IS Mike Johnson?”]( That question has been asked and answered in the mainstream media constantly since I was elected Speaker of the House three months ago. It probably won’t surprise you that so much of what has been written and said isn’t accurate at all. A lot of it has been openly hostile. [Washington and the press corps simply don’t know what to do with a leader who is unafraid to stand for faith, family, and freedom—and boldly profess his faith in Jesus Christ.]( I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things here because I expect you agree with me that these things are worth fighting for. [Indeed, I’m asking you to partner with me today to restore the principles that made America the most exceptional nation that’s ever been.]( [BECOME A PARTNER - JOIN TEAM JOHNSON]( Friend, this is my real story, without the media’s spin: From my earliest memories of childhood, my dad was my hero. Because he served as a firefighter and assistant chief training officer, my highest aspiration was to one day become the chief of the fire department of our hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. But when I was just 12 years old, my dad was critically burned and permanently disabled in the line of duty. That fateful explosion changed the trajectory of all our lives. Following our family tragedy, I had to grow up fast, help my parents take care of my three younger siblings and small family farm, and consider other ways to serve. I became the first person in my family to go to college, and then to law school, and I dedicated my career in constitutional law to defending our fundamental freedoms in the courts. My wife Kelly and I got married in 1999, just as I was beginning my law practice. Like so many other couples, as our family grew, we became increasingly concerned about the condition of our country and what our children’s generation would inherit. About nine years ago, after much prayer and deliberation, we decided to heed the call to run for public office and do our best to make a difference. I was elected without opposition to the Louisiana Legislature, and a short time later, to an open seat in the U.S. Congress. Less than seven years after I arrived in Washington, on October 25, 2023, I was unanimously elected by my Republican colleagues to serve as the 56th Speaker of the House. When I was growing up, I never dreamed any of this would be possible. But I am humbled and truly grateful for this opportunity. [All I ever aspired to do is serve God and my country, in whatever capacity He called me.]( Friend, you and I both know that America is facing today one of the greatest collections of crises in our nation’s history.
