Over the course of thousands of years, rain and snowfall filled the caldera, creating a 102-foot-deep lake—the deepest in the U.S. As equally impressive as Crater Lake’s depth is its remarkable, clear blue color, which enthralls more than 700,000 visitors every year. The lake can be viewed from most anywhere in the park; take the 33-mile-long Rim Drive and hop out of your car at any one of the 30 overlooks, or choose from more than a dozen trails to hike.
