[View Online]([Preferences]( [Add to Contacts]( [Liverpool Echo]( [News]( [What's On]( [Football]( Active Arts rewarded with prizes worth a total of £20,000. The ECHO has teamed up with the Liverpool Empire Trust to give away £20,000 worth of grants to local arts organisations including - but not restricted to: Dance schools Drama and theatre groups Orchestras Operatic groups Choirs Poetry groups & writers Artistic venues To enter, organisations must propose details of an entirely new initiative they want to create themselves. Organisers stress each project must be a new venture rather than an existing one - and would simply not happen if there cash grants being announced today were not available. Likely projects could include such areas as new shoes or costumes for a struggling dance group, a software and printing system to help promote projects more cheaply, a new set of stage curtains or even a set of soft cushions for a choir. The best ideas suggested will be rewarded with pay outs of up to a maximum of £2,000 each - enabling them to be brought to life, stage or screen.
