Hi friends, Joel Marion here, with some inspiring news in an otherwise very tragic circumstance. ?

Hi friends, Joel Marion here, with some inspiring news in an otherwise very tragic circumstance.   By now I’m sure you heard of the fires that devastated Maui, Hawaii on August 8. Over 2000 homes and businesses were burned to the ground. And sadly, over 115 precious lives were lost.  The town where the fire occurred, on the island of Maui, is called Lahaina. I have visited Lahaina many times in the past and it’s really a piece of heaven on earth.   Miraculously, only a few buildings were spared from the fire. One was a historic Maui church and the other building was right in the middle of town by Front Street and housed a new business called Flight of Aloha. Everything around the building is completely gone.  Flight of Aloha is a flying theater ride and restaurant that allows guests to experience all of the sacred and beautiful parts of Maui in a flying theater experience similar to Disney’s Soaring ride.  Flight of Aloha is also a cultural celebration because it shares the history of the Hawaiian islands with stories of their proud culture and people.   The owner of Flight of Aloha is my dear friend, Ola Shaw. Ola is a native Hawaiian and he and his family literally lost everything in the fire. Their home is unlivable, and all of their belongings were lost. Ola’s other business and primary source of income, an electronic contracting company, also burned to the ground.  He and his wife Kristin have two young children, and both of their schools were also lost. Like so many families, Ola and his family lost it all, however, they have been the FIRST people to help others get food, shelter and basic living supplies. They have worked tirelessly supporting the community during this tragedy—day and night. They are the friends and neighbors that everyone wishes they had when tragedy strikes.  I don’t think there are any accidents in life, and I think Flight of Aloha was spared from the fires for a reason. I think that reason is that Ola and Flight of Aloha are supposed to become a beacon of hope for other local businesses that lost everything.  The good people of Lahaina are faced with the decision of rebuilding their business or selling their land to outside developers who may not have the best interest of Maui in their hearts. Let’s not let this happen.  The mission of Flight of Aloha is to spread love and healing to everyone who visits. If Flight of Aloha is able to open, it will become the only business open in Lahaina for community members to gather for fellowship at their restaurant.  This is where you come in. Flight of Aloha was scheduled to open in the beginning of September, 2023 – just a few weeks after the fires swept through the town. However, because the business had not yet opened, they have no history of revenue and will not be compensated for lost revenue by insurance.  What’s more, much of the furniture and supplies were stored at an offsite storage facility that was burned to the ground and also not covered by insurance. Even worse, the intricate flying theater ride and giant screen was damaged by smoke and heat and is in need of expensive repair or replacement.  Meanwhile, the bills are piling up for Ola with no relief in sight and no help from our government. Flight of Aloha runs the risk of going out of business even before they begin.  I believe in miracles. Flight of Aloha was spared for a reason and I think that reason is to give others hope to rebuild Lahaina so the jobs come back and families can flourish in Maui once again.  If you can find it in your heart, please click the link below to see photos of this miracle event and consider donating to this worthy cause.   For those who can contribute, Ola will keep your names on record and offer tickets to the flying theater ride if you visit Maui in the future. (We hope you will support Lahaina's recovery by visiting when they reopen in the future.) Every little bit counts.  Additionally, those donating $200 or more will receive four tickets to the flying theater ride and have their names added on a special plaque in the theater, honoring Old Town Lahaina and the precious souls lost.  A group of business partners and I have agreed to match the donations given.  Once Flight of Aloha is open, a significant portion of proceeds will support other small businesses in Lahaina to encourage them to rebuild and reopen.  Please donate and forward this email to your friends to support Flight of Aloha and help us rebuild and protect Lahaina today.  [===> Click Here to Donate](  [click here to watch video](  Very Sincerely,  Joel Marion  P.S. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
