However, this could be a case of markets buying the rumor ahead of selling the actual news. US officials note that there haven’t been any “signs of real seriousness” to the offer yet. While cooler heads will hopefully prevail, and the end of hostilities will likely prove bullish for the market over a longer term than day-to-day swings, it would still be prudent for traders to stay cautious until the rumor turns into a fact.
