The latest victim? Best Buy (BBY). The electronics retailer saw shares get crushed yesterday despite strong earnings, as ORC led to lower profit margins at company stores. One trader is betting on a further rally in the coming weeks. That’s based on the December 3 $36 calls. Expiring at the end of next week, over 20,817 contracts recently traded, a 135-fold jump from the prior open interest of 154 contracts. The buyer of the calls paid $0.28 to make the trade. » [FULL STORY]( IN OTHER NEWS • [TSA Logs 2.2 Million Travelers On Average For the Weekend Before Thanksgiving]( Over 2.2 million passed through TSA security checkpoints at airports last Friday, according to a report from the agency. Sunday reported 2.2 million and Monday 2.1 million, all strong numbers suggesting that travel is nearly back to pre-pandemic levels. • [Dollar Tree Hikes Prices 25 Percent]( Dollar Tree (DLTR) is raising prices from $1.00 to $1.25. The majority of products will be repriced by the end of the first quarter of 2022. The company noted that the move was permanent, and that there were no short-term reasons behind the move. Even before inflation started rising, the company was hampered by the number of products it could sell for just $1.00. • [US Will Release 50 Million Barrels of Oil]( The White House reports that 50 million barrels of crude oil will be released from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The move is being undertaken to lower energy prices, which are being blamed as part of a broader rise in inflation. • [Turkish Lira Drops on Rate Cuts]( Citing the economic impact of high interest rates, Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan has had interest rates cut. That’s caused a 12 percent move in the Turkish lira, a massive swing for a sovereign currency in a single day. The slide reflects the view of international currency traders that inflation, currently running around 20 percent, will continue to be a problem for the country. • [Startup Craze May Change Unicorn Threshold]( The term unicorn first came into being in 2013 to describe a private company with a valuation over $1 billion.
