Philadelphia Federal Reserve president Patrick Harker became the first banker to suggest that the bank may slow down its bond purchasesâat least, at the end of the year. Thatâs the earliest that the Fed is likely to taper its bond purchases. A few analysts donât see that happening until as late as 2024. If weâve learned anything this week, itâs that money printing is far more important than anything politically. So thatâs good news for stocks, which once again hit record highs. And itâs a sign that, even if thereâs a correction in the markets, it will likely prove short-lived. And traders can likely expect the next correction in the markets to be blamed on any âtaper tantrumâ should the Fed actually step off the monetary gas pedal.
