How to trade Natural Gas

[TradeSmith] Dear Reader, Would you like to learn a little about my swing trading method? Hi my name is William McCanless, I’m a Senior Analyst at TradeSmith and I put together a [step-by-step demonstration]( on how my system works... It’s a no-nonsense swing trading system that doesn’t involve a lot of time in the markets each day (maybe about 20 minutes or so in the mornings once you get the hang of it). My opinion is that just about anybody can do it and that includes people with relatively small trading accounts as well. The first thing I look at when scanning the markets is something called “seasonality.” Seasonality is basically a repeatable pattern that can occur on any asset where it tends to go up (or down) more during a certain time of the year. Personally, I look for assets that have been trading for at least 15 years (the longer the better) and I try to find seasonal patterns that have an at least 70% accuracy rate. Back on April of this year I saw that for the last 15 years natural gas tended to go up 87% of the time for a 14% average return specifically between April 2nd and May 18th. That is a VERY strong seasonal pattern. Of course it’s not a guarantee natural gas will go up THIS time (which is why I use some extra methods to qualify trades, which you can see in my [video demonstration HERE]( but it is a very high probability. Here you can see the 15-year average price compared to the 2024 price — look how closely they moved! [Chart]( I told subscribers about this trade idea and talked about a few ways they could take advantage of the idea. One of the ways was to buy a call option. And that trade actually made 26.8% gains. Now that’s pretty good, but what’s even better is that we were able to turn right around and go short on Natural Gas (which means making money when something goes down). That trade made 71% gains in just 25 days starting in mid June.
