Hi {NAME}! Someone sent me this message awhile back: “hello Sir Darwin, I've been following your emails and I want to learn more. Pls tell me more about how can I make my emails interesting” To be honest, there’s no specific answer to this because it varies. What I can suggest is for you to listen to the pains and desires of your target market, and write from there. Actually, paulit-ulit ko nang sinasabi ‘to pero ‘yun lang talaga ‘yung way para maging interesting ang emails mo. 😅 But I get where this is coming from. As copywriters, we’re prone to sharing what WE THINK the readers would find interesting… The problem is, it doesn’t matter what we think. What matters is what the audience needs in the moment. How do you get it? Research This boring and tedious task, if done properly, can literally help you write your emails faster. Why? Because you can “swipe” your audience’s sentiments and weave them to create a copy that makes so much sense. Naka-resonate na sila, mas napadali pa ‘yung trabaho mo sa pagsusulat. HAHA! If we’re talking about the technicalities naman… Ganun pa rin, make it revolve around your audience. Meaning, write in the language they understand and in the tone they’d resonate with. Yes, more of part ng branding 'to, but it still helps to connect with your audience better. For example, ako. Hindi ko masasabing 10/10 ang English ko, but is that the reason why Taglish ang emails ko? Not necessarily. First of all, I teach Filipinos. Aminin man natin o hindi, mas comfortable tayo sa Tagalog kahit na marunong naman tayong umintindi at sumulat in English. Second, ganito talaga ako eh. HAHA! If you’d ever get to speak with me in person, or kahit dun na lang sa mga webinar ko na na-attend-an mo, anong language/s ba ang gamit ko? 😊 And as part of my branding, I want to set an example na Filipino copywriters can use both and still excel in the field. Lastly, gusto ko rin i-break ‘yung notion na you have to have perfect English if you want to be a copywriter. Yes, having perfect English and grammar may be an edge, But you only need to have decent English to get the job done. After all, as long as you can deliver your message loud and clear, you’re good. And as much as possible, don’t add fluff to your content. Remember, sobrang iksi na ng attention span ng mga tao ngayon. Be direct to the point but at the same time, Make sure you’ve made your copy interesting enough for them to read until the end. Ikaw ba, {NAME}, what’s your take on this? Share mo naman sa’min. HAHA!
