Hi {NAME}! Few days ago, I had this “controversial” Facebook post. HAHA! Controversial kasi about siya kay Taylor Swift! Kaya lang I don’t know her. I’m not a fan. 😅 Yet that was posted on my Facebook Page. If you’re wondering how that was possible when I own the page… Na-hack ba ako or what… Well, the answer is I have a Social Media Manager now. I know she meant well when she incorporated the Taylor Swift references. To be honest with you, I’ve thought long and hard if I should keep it there, Because there were copywriting lessons to learn from them… But it’s not who I am. And since I’m not a fan, I don’t want to “ride” with her being the talk of the town. I’m against “trendjacking” or going with what’s currently trending or hyped up just so I could have viewership. More importantly, I don’t want to set an example to my students, implying na okay lang ‘yung ganun, Kasi hindi siya okay for me. “Bakit na-publish ‘yun kung hindi naman pala aligned sa branding mo?” I understand if some of you would think the same. Pero believe it or not, I’m not a micromanager… Kasi ako rin mismo, ayaw ko na mina-micromanage ako. So bakit ko gagawin sa team members ko, ‘di ba? Another thing is since I hired her, I trust and believe she’s an expert in what she does, That’s why I gave her the freedom to do her thing in order to build exposure for my personal brand. But that’s the thing… Personal brand ko kasi ‘yun. I don’t want to immortalize a post, no matter how huge the engagement is, if it doesn’t speak of who I am as a person… Especially when it’s implying I’m an avid fan eh hindi nga. Hindi ko nga kilala si Taylor. 😅 And to be clear na lang din… I have nothing against Taylor Swift or her fans. Apparently, malaki pala ang following niya. Yep, I'm that outdated. What I’m against with are the idea and the act of using other people’s influence for my own benefit. That really goes against my principles. So I decided to delete it. Kaya if you wanted to check which post I’m talking about, Hindi mo na siya makikita ngayon sa page ko. Hindi mo kasi ako finollow agad. Joke. HAHAHAHA. I just published a post about it in my personal account. [>> Check it out here <<]( Nasasayangan ako sa effort niya, sa totoo lang. And may point naman talaga ‘yung iba, Which is why I kept them in that personal post and provided insights on each of the photos. So check those as well to get a glimpse of who Darwin is and why he refuses to be associated with Taylor Swift. HAHA! But seriously… Like what I said in that post, I’d rather go the slower route than piggyback on someone I don’t even know or like. I hope you learned something from this email, {NAME}. In case it needs reiterating before I end this email, Always make sure what you publish aligns with your branding, be it for your own or for your clients. [>> Here’s the link again to read my insights on what my SMM posted <<]( That’s all for now. Weekend na pala ulit bukas. Kakatapos ko lang mag-long break. HAHA! To going against trendjacking, Mark Darwin Balaswit P.S. If you still haven’t followed my Facebook page, [click here](. Promise, wala nang Taylor Swift references moving forward. 😂 Sent to: {EMAIL} [Unsubscribe]( Top Dog Copywriter, Barangay Commonwealth, 1121 Quezon City, Philippines
