The Latest [Escaped murderer captured in Pa. after a 13-day manhunt: 'Our nightmare is finally over.']( A [13-day manhunt came to an end]( early yesterday when convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante was finally caught by police in a heavily wooded area west of Philadelphia. Using thermal heat technology, authorities were able to pinpoint the escaped killer's location, eventually ambushing him at around 8 a.m. Wednesday. [Cavalcante tried to escape](, crawling through thick underbrush while carrying a stolen .22 rifle, but authorities released a Border Patrol Tactical Unit dog, which caught and subdued him. The search for Cavalcante, who escaped from Chester County Prison on Aug. 31, involved the temporary closure of two school districts and a botanical garden, a harrowing encounter with a homeowner who shot at him, a stolen van and more than 500 law enforcement officers. A gastroenterologist told the mom from North Carolina not to worry about it, but when she went to a different doctor, an MRI revealed she had [stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her liver](. She was treated and went into remission for four years, but soon started losing weight and experiencing painful gas and other symptoms. She wrote in an essay for TODAY.com that her oncologist assured her the cancer had not returned, but her doctors informed her last year they found a lesion in a new area indicating [she had cancer again](.
