Sapida, 41, a reporter at NBC affiliate WPXI-TV of Pittsburgh, said her doctor wasn't overly concerned at first, but sent her for an ultrasound to be safe. “The ultrasound was obviously suspicious,” Sapida told TODAY.com. “They did the biopsy that day.” She was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer, one of the most aggressive and fast-growing forms. Sapida underwent an immunotherapy drug trial lasting 12 weeks alongside chemotherapy, before completing four more drug treatments and a double mastectomy.
