The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said it has been investigating the 2015 death of Smith, 19, as a homicide since 2021. No one has been arrested or charged in Smith's death. An autopsy report in 2015 listed the cause of death as being struck by a vehicle while Smith was a pedestrian, but his family has said it does not believe his death was a hit-and-run. Smith was a classmate of Buster Murdaugh, the surviving son of Alex Murdaugh, who has [denied any involvement with Smith's death](. [Gwyneth Paltrow caused a 2016 Utah skiing accident, a witness testifies as trial opens.]( An eyewitness testified yesterday that actor and wellness mogul [Gwyneth Paltrow crashed into another skier](at Utah's Deer Valley Resort in 2016 and [left him with serious injuries](. Paltrow's [lawyer disputed that sequence of events,](during which she is accused of causing Terry Sanderson “to suffer a concussion, brain injury and four broken ribs.” Paltrow has denied being at fault and said Sanderson was exploiting her for her wealth and celebrity. Sanderson is seeking $300,000, amended down from a prior request for $3.1 million. Paltrow is countersuing Sanderson for $1. Eyewitness Craig Ramon said in court yesterday that he witnessed Paltrow "slam into the back" of Sanderson and then leave the scene of the crash without asking if he needed help, which Paltrow's attorneys disputed.
