Carolina could leave more than 100,000 in the dark for days.]( More than 100,000 people in Moore County could be [without power and heat for days]( with temperatures in the low 30s after at least one [gunman opened fire on two Duke Energy power substations]( on Saturday night, police said. Officials with the FBI's office in Charlotte said the[attacks were "willful damage"]( and that it was possible the attacks were connected to a LGBTQ+ drag show in the city of Southern Pines on Saturday. The Moore County sheriff said the substations were "targeted." A Duke Energy official said the power could be out until Thursday, and authorities asked travelers not to visit Moore County at night with traffic and street lights out. The survey of nearly 4,000 adults found that [less than a third]( knew that drinking alcohol, including wine, was a risk factor for cancer. A [2021 study]( found that alcohol consumption accounted for 75,199 cancer cases and 18,947 cancer deaths annually in the U.S, coinciding with a rise in drinking, particularly among women 30 to 45. "It’s a women’s health issue, and we need to do a better job talking about the fact that there is no health benefit, particularly around cardiovascular disease and cancer," one professor told us.
